This Earth Hour, tomorrow night, go beyond the hour – and test out some melatonin producing tricks!
At last a night where we dim down for a great night’s sleep – and save some electricity and carbon emissions while we are doing it!
Knowing that bright lights inhibit the production of melatonin – a vital component of sleep – check out whether having the lights turned off, and later dimmed makes you feel more sleepy, more relaxed and gives you a better night’s sleep.
So GO BEYOND Earth Hour and make it Earth Night for you (if you suffer from sleep problems)! Earth Hour starts at 8.30 pm and goes till 9.30 pm in Sydney Australia (where we are) – but there is nothing stopping any viewer of this post from extending the hour to the whole night…. or at least using dim lights for the rest of the night.
You might find that changing the habit of bright lights is a great idea for EVERY night.
The most powerful lights inhibit the production of melatonin, they include bright fluorescent lights, the blue rays that come off your computer and laptop screens. Dim down your lights, or choose red lights or incandescent lighting for a better night’s sleep.
While I’m on this topic here’s a post I made earlier today about a downloadable program that you can install in your computer to reduce the sleep-inhibiting-rays from your computer/laptop:
Have a relaxing night, it might be challenging for some of you to think of what to do! And yea, no rude comments below on the upcoming baby boom.
